About County Westmeath
|
County Westmeath is in the west of Leinster province and lies in the Irish Midlands. County Westmeath is also known as 'Lake County', the lakes Lough Ree in the west and Lough Sheelin in the northeast offering fantastic views, angling and canoeing. Forests, hills and lakes dominate the centre landscape of Westmeath whilst the rest of the county is mainly flat.
The county is home to Tullynally castle, one of the largest in Ireland and Belvedere House country estate dating back to the 19th century and both well worth a visit during your holiday stay.
